I have to say it somewhere so I might as well say it here.

Before the NFL playoffs started, I saw the San Diego Chargers as the best team in the AFC and that they were a LOCK for the Superbowl.

Last week when the New York JETS flew to San Diego with their Number 1 defense and punishing running game, I still thought they would fall to the high powered offense of Ladainian Tomlinson, Phillip Rivers, Darren Sproles, Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates etc.
Then they shocked the world by doing what no one but them and Rex Ryan believed could happen.

They won...

led by Darrelle Revis with his 2 INT's, the defense showed up and proved why they were, and still are #1. Ryan executed a conservative, but winning, gameplan. Just pound the rock, don't put Mark Sanchez in a position where he HAS to win it. Let him throw 1 or 2 deep bombs to Braylon Edwards just as a reminder to the San Diego defense to respect his arm. Screens, dump-offs, and pound it some mo'.

What does this mean? Well to this biased New York fan trying to look at it from an x's and o's objective view... I believe the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets ARE inarguably the BEST team in the AFC! Not the vaunted Colts as everyone screams from their firmly implanted seats on THAT bandwagon!

When last these two teams met, Peyton Manning was holding on to a slim lead and was having his troubles with the Jet D when he was pulled from the game. He will NOT be pulled from this game on Sunday, but it won't be a walk in the park. As I said, he will have to do everything in his power to attain & keep a lead on these Jets, if he can. Rex Ryan and Darelle Revis and Kerry Rhodes and Shaun Ellis and Bart Scott have been immersed in tape sessions, remembering and planning to repeat what worked last time and implementing adjustments to do more damage to Peyton this time around. My personal fav Jim Leonhard, who in back to back playoff wins has inflicted punishing hits to opposing players that jarred the ball loose from their grip and gave the momentum and upper hand to his team, is preparing for the fight of his life and ready to do likewise to Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Pierre Garcon or whoever DARES to catch a ball in front of him!

In case you still don't get it....
The Jets will beat Indy 24-17 and advance to the Superbowl in Miami.

That's what I'm saying!

  1. On a football side note to Junior…..

Although I am not backing off anything I said previously about ‘my hero’ Tom Brady, I have to take him down one step off that perch and let him stand aside for Peyton Manning to step in front of him.

I was going to claim, that however true, his difficulties this year are do to his injury last year and that this is his first full year of playing the most difficult position in all of sports and that he should come back next year better than ever. This is not a cop-out, this is a true statement and applies to all normal QB’s. Only a freak of nature can come back that fast to the same level of play as before.

Then I realized, dang, that’s what Peyton did LAST YEAR! Had surgery, missed all of training camp and then stepped in game one, was a little rusty, but the same ole Peyton Effing Manning. He actually carried that sorry team last year.

So Junior, I’m not conceding, just saying.

    P.S.
Brett Freakin Favre had surgery on HIS THROWING ARM this summer!!!! In about 36 hours, he might be headed to another superbowl after the best statistical performance of his entire career at the ripe old age of FKEN 40!!!
    Damn Brett, you da man!

  2. I guess the Jets’ Superbowl run was just wishful thinking on my part.

I have been wrong many times before, and shall be many more times in the future.
