You Cannot Have That Surgery!
I would like to have a discussion around what you all feel about health care and the bill circulating in Congress... that will be coming up, but right now, we are asking for you to help in taking some action!
Senator Grassley of (of all places) Iowa, is a very big proponent of President Obama's Health Care Reform Bill (aka Obama Care). This bill will fundamentally change this country. It purports to want to cover 40 million Americans more, but there has been no mention of being able to do this without increasing (actually decreasing - we'll explain later) the number of doctors, hospitals and other infrastructure needed to support the vast influx of additional beneficiaries.
If someone can explain to me, how this would be paid for without skyrocketing the money coming out of Americans' pockets (which the President is already quoted as saying), that would be great, if not, please go out to Senator Grassley's contact page at http://grassley.senate.gov/contact.cfm and tell him to say no this mess!! You can also call his office at (202) 224-3744.
Here is the message I sent to him (in case you get writer's block):
Senator Grassley:
I know you are a very big proponent of President Obama's health care reform bill. I would like to respectfully request, however, that you take the time to consider the numbers put forth by the Congressional Budget Office as well as the alarming shift in those Americans who oppose this bill, as per daily polls would indicate.
I just have not seen or heard any specific information that would refute what the CBO has detailed in their findings. President Obama was very abstract in his press conference last week and I am concerned that this is simply not a sustainable option.
The President has also said that those of us who have private health care would be able to keep it, but how would those companies be able to compete against a federal public plan who has no bottom line obligations. The public plan would be THE ONLY OPTION by attrition.
I would agree that health care must undergo reform, but this cannot be the best way to go about it. Regulation, to control the ever-rising cost of medical care would be beneficial, but "administration" is definitely not the answer.
Please think about and consider the impact of this on America's families and do not advocate this bill.
I thank you for your time and attention to this most important matter.

How much money do you make?
Hello, Chino here, I just want to offer a little perspective today... How much do you make an hour, a week, a year?
Well, $5. per hr=$10,000. a year. $10.hr=$20,000.year. $20.hr=$40,000.year. To make this easier, lets use $25. an hour, that equals $50,000. a year. How many of you make $25. an hour? My guess is some, but not many of ya. Within 5 years, $50,ooo. might be minimum to live off of.
OK, my point? Coming soon, bear with me... so, if you make $50,000 a year for 20 years you will have earned a million dollars. Woo hoo! Obviously, you will have used up most of that to live on.
How long would it take to make 10million? 200 years!
100 million? 2000 years! Jesus Christ will have just passed the 100 million mark 9 years ago.
What about a BILLION? Remember, a billion is 1000 million, so after 2 million years you would reach a billion dollars!!! Maybe a wooly mammoth started a bank account and has that much saved up by now.
Why Do So Many People Hate Being American?
You know it makes me so mad to hear some of the following statements:
"Well, I was born in America, but I'm Ecuadorian, Colombian, Nigerian, Chinese, etc."
"Why does this country have to be so arrogant?"
"Why do we have to meddle in other countries' affairs?"
"Why can't we be more like other countries in (insert subject here)...?"
What gives? What the heck (euphemism) is wrong with being an American?!?! Why are we so ashamed to be the best country in the world? Why should we try to copy other countries' failed policies? We may not be perfect, but we are the best country. Why are we not proud to have accomplished in a little over 200 years, what other countries have not accomplished in 2000 years?!?!
America is the most financially successful (until now), most free, most giving nation in the history of the world... So love it or leave it!!
I wanna know what you think. Are you proud? Or are you a hater? And why?
